Hello DIY world. I have been a lurker here for many years. So now I have decided to join up and have the ability to ask questions and maybe offer something myself. I have worked for a passive component manufacture for over 15 years now (still do) and have thought about putting all my contacts from semi manufactures/distribution/other passive manufactures to use. I am toying with the idea of offering these types of components to the DIY world. I have learned so much from my engineering group over the years. I went ahead and hired a PCB designer (I have no patience to learn the software) and designed up some bare PCB power supplys. You know the basic stuff. Snap in capacitors, bleeder resistors, bridge rectifier, snubber caps, very basic but rock solid. Was thinking of selling as bare PCB or a Kit with the passives. Anywho still figuring out the rules of this website and hope to be more involved in this community. Kind Regards, Todd
 
I spent some time at the university of san jose, absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to get out that way again.
What kinds of options are you thinking for these PCBs. Like modular units; preamps, power amps, crossovers, etc. Smart and motivated engineers are really at the core of this hobby, so new talent is always exciting.

Just simple Modular. For Power Amps, Pre Amps ect. Your basic AC to DC not overthought power supplies. With the many years that I have selling components, dealing with PCB fabs, distributors, contract manufactures, in all honesty I want to restore the faith that this type of "consumer" goods can still be made in the United States. (That is for another forum topic and something I am HIGHLY MOTIVATED in doing)... I digress So basically the first boards I have done are for Power Amplifiers. The small board is conservative, 4 snap in caps that can net you up to 27200uF at 100v or 40000uF at 80v and more in the lower voltages. I had done the screw terminal thing and was disappointed at how big it was. The other two boards have 8 and 12 caps respectivly. So people can go nuts with having capacitance storage. Not rocket science, but something that works. And very basic. My core competancy is components. I work for a passive component manufacture and my sister company is a Semi distributor. I have watched the many brands that I have sold to leave this great country for the all mighty dollar and the component content does suffer as they source cheaper and cheaper products, especially in aluminum electrolytics, Sunfire, Carver, Rockford Fosgate, Phoenix Gold, Mackie Designs(Now Loud Tech and they should have never gone public), uh oh I am off on a tangent how...
