Hi all,
I've been browsing this site for quite some time. Especially the Pass Labs forum. Love it!
Already have build a class A amp Elektor design quite some years ago and used it without preamp. It was OK but I always felt it could be better. So decided to build a pre amp.
After browsing this site I decided to build the BOSOZ. Biased it however with constant current sources.
WHOOOOAAAA!!! What an improvement in comparison to no preamp.
But it is not yet finished. For the moment I'm using a cheap potentiometer at the input as volume control. I'm going to replace it with the relay volume control as in the Aleph17. But not controlled by microprocessor but I'm planning in doing it with a encoder, up/down detector and binary up/down counter.
Hope to finish this soon.
What a great site this is!!!!
Greetingz, Luc

Hello Luc,
I'm surprised that no one (even one of the moderators
has not welcomed you to the Forum.
Anyway, welcome 🙂
Although my interest is mainly valve equipment, I too have contemplated the "hardware" relay volume control you mentioned. It seems to me that such a system would be much quieter than a micro based system. It would be possible to run the clock only when the volume control was being adjusted.
Enjoy the forum, see you around...
Cheers,
