Hi Everybody. I found this place a few weeks ago after I decided that I needed to get a decent pair of speakers for my electric piano; my Logitech computer speakers don't do it justice. Somehow in my search I found that there are people designing and building there own high quality audio equipment, and a little more searching lead me to here. Before this I had no idea that it was possible to build your own audio equipment. Since then I've spent hours going through speaker design threads, amplifier design threads and dac design threads, and I the knowledge in here is truly impressive. I've also been to the library and and started reading stuff on speaker design and analog circuit design. I graduated as an electrical engineer 20 years ago, and it's pretty cool to find that some of the stuff that I studied actually has some practical use.
To start off, today I ordered the Recession Buster speaker kit from Madisound, and if this goes well then I plan to build a better set of speakers. I have some leftover MDF and a small home wood shop, so I hope that it doesn't take too long to put the speakers together.
Next decision - F5 amp or chipamp. Further on pre-amp and DAC, and make a decision on my second pair of speakers.
cheers!

Welcome to the forum 🙂
After you get a build or 2 under your belt, you'll have a much better idea of what road you want to travel
(a chipamp is a whole lot easier (and cheaper) to build than an F5, i doubt it will sound as good, but they are a great utility amp, so good to have a couple kicking around)
