Ok, i just found out that they are selling brand new Sharp made or Samsung made LCD's for the PSP. i'm not exactly sure what resolution they are but my friend has one and they look great to me.. and they are 16x9 widescreen.
They are only 50 dollars for new ones, anyone know if they drop right in? ffc thing looks like it just sits there, don't know if it "plugs" in to anything.
We don't we all chip in money to buy one and give it to the smartest person on this site to see if they can make an adapter ffc ribbon that can go into a VGA driver board from computers..
so we can use themmm..
50 FREAKING DOLLARS FOR AN AWESOME WIDESCREEN SMALL LCD....
here is the picture.

ok price good lcd good ... finding controler boards so you can actually use the lcd priceless......
well there is a psp with a broken lcd for 49 bucks on ebay...
so total would be 100.00
that's 160 dollars cheaper than a liliput....
but i doubt all of us could find a psp that happens to have just a broken lcd and for a good price. plus i'm still not sure how long the ffc is for the lcd..........

here's my question, how come very freaking lcd panel i take out of a monitor has those gay flappy circuits that tear easy on the side of the panel..
but this psp lcd panel only has one piece and it's at the bottom........

ok even if you had a working psp ... it would do you no good ...
can you plug yer comp into a psp and watch movies or see yer desktop ? can you plug in yer xbox and play games that way ? i dont think so unless you build some tiny pj box with the psp built into it ... and only used it as a psp ... its just pointless

dude, that's why i said, let's figure out how to plug in the lcd into a computer monitor driver board... (vga)
THEN........... you just need a video to vga transcoder which are getting cheaper now....

by the time we get all that ..... it will cost more than sharp 2500
or nice lcd monitor that has 4 x times the specs the sharp 2500 or the psp has if i was gunna try and custom something it would be finding a cheap way to use laptop lcds ...but thats just me ... now as far as small lcds do i dunno ... cuz id rather have good specs then a small pj but thats just my pref.

yeah, you're right. i just thought it was cool cause it's 16x9
i'm gonna attempt to salvage another lcd from a monitor now that i found a place that sells ffc extensions.
lets just say i have a bad taste in my mouth from the samsung that had 6 pounds of foil tape on the delicate flappy circuits and i tore one....
plus the other lcd that i broke straight up which was my fault.

i know of 2 that i know for sure of being easy to use that is the viewsonic vg150 and the nec 1530v now the controler boards are kinda a pain on the vg150 but u dont need a ffc extension well... depending on youre mounting anways and the nec 1530v is great
thanks man, you've always been helpful, well alot of people here so i appreciate your time and advice. i decided to go with the nec 1530v since you and many others agree it's a good one..
i will post the project once i get all the parts............

are you gunna get that ballast off ebay ? i am ordered one of these many others have as well http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7555539480&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1
the bulb for it is $38 but does 33000 lumens and lasts for over 20000 hours if i were you and could afford it id jump on that ballast asap its a great price now it is a high presure sodium ballast and it will only work with a retro bulb so you cant use a normal metal halide bulb with it there is a thread here that says where to get the bulb check it out

yeah, i just noticed that post about them yesterday..
i really should because they produce a better color image than the bulb from my Dukane StarFire 4030, right? It's the 410 watt kind, i guess a quartz kind? do you think it's more yellow than the ushio?
i know from salt water aquariums that the best color temps are only from metal halides.....
thanks for the heads up.....
but how do i know where to buy the lamps? (not the ballast, but the ushio or whatever lamps... is that the only brand, or the best brand for color temp?)

oh and is it difficult to wire those up?
the ebay image shows a mess of wires and terminals.. you have to assemble the entire ballast?
does it come with instructions?

this should explain everything http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67188 its the route im going for the price u cant beat it.
i am perty sure it comes with instructions ....most do. i have never wired one before but the second i get it ill take pictures
one more question v1.....
are you building your box projector to hang from ceiling for a stand up kind on a desk/table?
because magnetic ballasts are very heavy so it would be difficult for ceiling....
do you think there is a safe way to wire the ballast remotely to the projector long enough to be on ceiling?
and how do you guys keep the magnetic ballasts from interfering with lcd displays.. (noise from the high wattage and magnet)
do you run the power supplies on different strips or even different outlets........?
