While clear up, I came across to an old speaker catalogue from Hartley Products Inc.
What about this brand? Are there even commercial products where inside this brand?
Thank you for tell about your sonic experiences.
Perhaps it could be "ALE/Goto" from Europe resp. US - go to find informations about this brand to

The big one is a classic "super woofer".
I guess someone is still making them.
Their spyder assembly is of note - old school.
No relationship to ALE/Goto afaik.
The big woofer was used by Mark Levinson in his QHD (?) system which was a pair of stacked Quad 63s a Decca ribbon and the Hartley 24" woofer... quite good actually as a system, but huge...

Btw, are you doing a survey of exotic speakers??

Hartley is made in the USA.

Yes, but only such, that currently in production and not obsolete.
I think, you mean the HQD system (Hardley Quad Decca) about
Mark Levinson HQD system

H A Hartley was British. Started in 1927. As Hartley-Turner they sold the 215 an 8" (cone size) full range. Centre of cone was decoupled from the rest by a compliance. Shown in New York Audio Fair 1951, and sold thro to the early '60s I think. Expensive. Free air resonance about 35 Hz, but heavily damped due to al vc former. Xmax about 6.5mm. Claimed on-axis frequency response at 1 watt was within plus/minus 5db 40Hz to 20KHz mounted in a large OB, and at 4 watts, within plus/minus 10db 50Hz to 18KHz within a "boffle", an 18inch heavily damped non-resonant open back cube.
Max power 20 watts, Flux density 11,500 lines/sq.cm Alcomax II magnet 4 ohms only.
Eventually Hartley sold out and the firm moved to USA, where a different range was developed and sold, particularly big cone units, which are the ones you know.

No, haven't measured them. I've been told (not by Hartley) the normal T/S parameters aren't really valid because of a shorted turn in the VC assembly...never bothered to check it out.

Hartley 24's
Had a Pr of the 24's back in the 70's. Worked so well i went ahead and purchased a pr of 30 inch EV's .. what a disaster eventually went back to the Hartleys.😛
Are these speakers still available ?

I have a pair of the big Concertmasters and the sound is fantastic. The highs aren't the greatest, but the mids and lows are awesome. Even by modern standards, they sound better than most I've heard.

Are there any news?
Which of the currently available speaker driver brand sounds as close as possible to this ? Maybe Supravox, Fostex, Fane Acoustics or PHL-Audio?I have a pair of the big Concertmasters and the sound is fantastic. The highs aren't the greatest, but the mids and lows are awesome.
