I'm rebuilding my my HK725 because of some leaky caps. I came across a mystery last night. There is a failed 330 ohm 1/2 watt carbon resistor that's got a much larger (maybe 2 watts?) 330 ohm resistor soldered onto its legs. In case you own a HK725, the resistor in question is R242.
I'm guessing a previous owner did the repair. I am curious as to why he didn't replace the caps. There's also a toasty looking wire that needs replacing.
