most people know my setup, but here goes again:

Dukane 670 OHP with 575w HWI lamp ($125 ? ). fresnel splitted.
13.3" 800x600 300:1 LG LCD from a ATM terminal display ($57)
3x 60mm fans (parts!)

screen: Parkland plastics 'polywall' 5'x8' ($29) stretched on a frame made by copper pipes with zipties ($20)

I was using a slot fan to cool the screen, but the image is dark and uneven. later I found a part of LCD which had fan blowing right onto was brighter than other part, so I am using three fans now, and they keep LCD cooled very well. Now the image is much brighter.

forgot to mention, the image above are compressed 1024x768. for some reason, this makes image brighter than native resolutiion. but trade off is some lost of hightlight details.

Your getting a great picture from your setup with compressed 1024. How do you like the parkland material? I havent tried it yet. For my latest screen I'm working with different material from Dazian. The results vary from one material to another so much that I'm finding myself having more fun finding a good screen then I did actually making the projector.

hi 18wheeler !
I like your setup i was nearly there to buy the same panel as you, but in the last moment i decided to buy a ASK Impact (in cause of colors).
The colors are sharp and powerfull. I like it. It's very great what you can do only with an Halogen lamp.

Happy Halloween

it's a HMI lamp (sorry for the typo), an expensive metal halide variation. fortunately I can get it cheap from China. it suppose to be double the lumen of 250W HQI lamp. But I think the design of the OHP doesn't fully reveals its brightness. 🙁

yeah 60$ is a kool price 🙂 but due to my stupidity I missed an auction that had it for 9.99 with no 0 bids 🙁 lol

hey can your lcd be found easily? im still amazed by your results very nice man...if only you could get some pics of video games...😉 😉 😀

:smash:

i saw that 9.99 too. and was amazed by nobody bidding on it. did you notice those Elmo's are not selling well on ebay too?

The seller of the LCD terminal got it from his relative working in Diebold. He promised to ask for more if possible, but he never came back to me. it is pretty sensetive to heat. without proper cooling, it is much darker than it could be.

I am not a good gamer (clumsy fingers), so I dont have games on the system. I will try to find the one which came with my old ATI card.

yeah the elmo hype has died down, I saw a A380 SD go for 102$
lol
despite the customer demand soem ebay sellers are increasing prices...one is asking 400$ for a dukane, the worst one so far is some idiot selling an ola proxima 810 for 1,200$ LOL

do you still sell those HMI bulbs? I want to compare it to my HQI.
About the game pics if its hard to get a pic of you gaming then its ok you dont have to go through all the trouble 🙂

If i didnt know better I'd say you image looks better than one of CMV 15.. or maybe its the difference cameras... oh well
😀

:smash:

I will blame the camera too 😀.

I was kind of disappointed before I added more fans. the picture was dark and uneven. It looked worse than any 250w HQI setups. but it looks much better now. thanks for those additional fans.

next i will take apart a 14.1" dell monitor once I get the flex cable extended. it is more transparent and has native XVGA.
