Yes Osvaldo, I need to get that, also this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ella_Fitzgerald_Sings_the_Cole_Porter_Song_Book I love Cole Porter's songs. I have Anita O'day singing his songbook, fantastic!
It is. Where the heck was the Google doodle? No worries, I've been listening to her since I found this thread. Thanks!
It's a great quality recording. It seems a fortunate fact that recording in good quality is simpler than reproducing in good quality. Like transmitters are simpler than receivers? Talking is simpler than listening? haha!
The recordings to check out are Fitzgerald's retakes on standards from Ellington, Mercer, Porter, Gershwin, etc. She basically redefined the tunes. They were issued as a set as "The Great American Songbook". I happened to listen to/ review the Johnny Mercer 12" from that series for the radio station where I DJ, and it was technically stunning.
