Someone I know and sit near during the daytime has been in the hospital because of a respiratory problem. His friend says the doctors say that its H1N1 flu, apparently the strain that came into the US of A in 2009. I think he first got the sinus and lung bacterial infection that has been going around in my area for decades and then got the flu later, probabaly because of the beatings his lungs took with the bacterial infection which might have made him more susceptible to the flu. I was a lunger this January and February for a while and I found out the TCP and Strepsil throat lozenges are very effective (see 2nd link below).
The 1918 flu pandemic was also caused by a strain of H1N1 flu.
