Kinman treble mod uses a 130k resistor in series with a capacitor.

Kinman used 250k potentiometer

Would the value of the resistor change for 500k or even a 1 meg potentiometer?

Each combination of a resistor and capacitor has its own cutoff frequency, so you can use the pair of values of your own taste or necessity. Be sure that too high C and too low R don't load excessively the previous stage.
