I was wondering if there is some interest in doing a group buy for PCB's and possibly components for a 5.1 surround sound amp for a computer surround sound system.
The system would take analog inputs from the computer sound card on 6 channels (optionally 4 channels) and amplify each channel. There would be one power supply for the amp.
I was thinking that this would be a good project to utilize the National LM3886 or LM4780 as well as the LM4651/ 4652 subwoofer amp set.
One board would reduce costs considerably over having seperate boards for each channel or stereo pair as well as the subwoofer.
I was thinking that this would be a good project since many people would like surround sound on their computers for games, videos, music, etc.
Post your thoughts and interest here.
I could take the lead on organizing and purchasing, but would need some input on the engineering aspects.

I would be interested if it could take a toslink or spdif input...
For the sake of costs and component count I would suggest using dual amp chips...
