Just joined diyAudio, and as suggested in the email I got to activate my membership, thought I would introduce myself.

I Started working in electronics back in the 60's. Built a Lafayette radio kit in my eighth grade shop class. Worked the sound systems all through High School for the Back Stage club. Attended the US Naval Academy from 72-76, where I got my first exposure to electrical engineering and computers/information technology. Served aboard a Navy Frigate from 77 to 80 as the Electronics Materiel Officer and Electonics Warfare Officer. Picked up a Masters degree degree in Systems Management in 82 (just before leaving the Navy) with an IT emphasis. Worked various jobs in the defense/intelligence/IT realm through the end of 2007. In March of 2008, my wife and I opened an antique mall.

One of our customers gave me a couple of cases of tubes and other components that had belonged to her father, a life-long HAM. This got me researching vacuum tube testers. Ended up buying a Stark 9-66, serial number 2237, dynamic mutual conductance tube tester. This was made in Canada under the exclusive patent rights of Hickok Electronics. This tube tester has the same drawing numbers as the Hickok 533, dated 1947.

Lets just say the unit has had some issues which have had me up late researching how to get it fully functional and calibrated. It is forums like this that have proven most useful.

Any other Stark 9-66 owners out there?
