Can we make a diy power supply like GreenForce?

Maybe, if there was any technical information on that website that goes beyond simple marketing ********.
I didn't see any.

Yeah, a lot of claims and hyperbole without any substantive support.Maybe, if there was any technical information on that website that goes beyond simple marketing ********.
They did make a big deal about being covered by a U.S. patent. Of course, without citing the patent number even that claim is suspicious. But I did locate US Patent App. 13/854,920, submitted by Robert H. Backert, at https://www.google.com/patents/US20...a=X&ei=ZAMyU6KdJ6OWyAG2koGQAQ&ved=0CD4Q6AEwAQ
It looks like the circuit topology will extend the conduction angle of the main rectifier, as claimed in the patent. At small power levels it may permit electrically smaller storage capacitors. I haven't played with the circuit topology in sim yet but the seat of my pants says it may not scale well to power requirements beyond a few dozen watts.

Anything that has the word green in it is already suspicious. I prefer my electronics and everything else to speak for themselves. Be nice if this would be real.
It is basically a full-wave voltage doubler. The circuit in itself is certainly not new, the only thing that is is the extended conduction claim, but it is rather flimsy as a basis for a patent. They did make a big deal about being covered by a U.S. patent. You would only get extended conduction if you used too small capacitors, thus raising the output resistance of the PSU. Nice to see that you can apply for a US patent for a common newbie mistake!
And under the new "first to file" system, armies of corporate lawyers can apply for patents on common newbie mistakes all day long, then file infringement suits against anybody who ever tries to correct the error.. . . Nice to see that you can apply for a US patent for a common newbie mistake!
