Gradient SW-S dipole subwoofer with Acoustat

I have the opportunity to purchase a pair of these subwoofers for use with my Acoustat Spectra 22s. They each have two 12 inch drivers in a dipole configuration. I would probably use a Marchand electric crossover at around 60 hertz and drive them with a Quad 606 (140 watts into 8 ohms) that I already own.
Is anyone familiar with these subs. They are the modern day version of the original Gradient sub.
What I hope to achieve:
1) Remove sub 60 hertz bass from the panels to improve their performance.
2) Add more bass and "punch" to the sound.
Main concerns:
1) Addition of crossover and another set of cables reducing detail and adding noise and "electronic" sound.
2) Loss of coherence with the electrostatic panel. I am only considering this as these are dipole subs made to use with electrostatics.
3) Small size of the room 12X16 the bass could overload. The subs would have to be within a few feet of the walls.
Only considering this since this is a rare opportunity to get these used at an attractive price. With the crossovers and extra cabling the cost would still be almost twice that of the Acoustats.
Would this setup create a "SuperSpeaker" or am I dreaming?
