Hello peoples.
Does anyone know where I can obtain a needle for a Grace F9E,
or at the least a reputable rebuilder.
cheers.

help for Grace F9E
well,
I have a Grace F8 and i cant find replacement styli anywhere!!!!
I did have it retipped with a Garrot micro scanner about 20years ago was well worth it. It sounded lush, warm with great detail and traced like a leach.(sounded a bit like a moving coil!!)
I would have the F9E retipped with a nothing less than a Micro scanner ie nothing less than a parabolic tip and a boron catilever
this will give you a great sounding cartridge, much cheaper than a
moving coil, it the hundereds of dollars not thousands!!!!!

I'm going to stick my neck out and suggest a good modern
cartridge will be better than the F9E, and performance is
very dependent on what arm / catridge it goes in.
for the cost of a NOS stylus (expensive if you can find one,
~ $200US I believe) I'd look at the Ortofon 530 or the
Goldring 1012GX as a replacement / upgrade.
Both have advanced tip shapes better than an elliptical,
and will last ~ twice as long as an elliptical tipped stylus.
Retipping is very expensive and not cost effective IMO.
🙂 sreten.

i heard both grace and goldring (not the 1012 but the 1022). The grace was really better. Is it worth retipping i woudn't. Much prefer to keep my money until a can buy an expensive mc.

Hello folks,
Thanks very much to those who replied. For information, the arm is a
Grace G707 and the turntable a Thorens TD160S. (Can't get belts for the Thorens (darn)!).
I'm going to leave the Grace and follow some of the recommendations to look for a new cartridge.
cheers and thsnks,
Keith
