Hi all,
I have been exploring and reading around this forum for a while now and this is my first post.
I have a pair of Goodmans Midax 'horn midrange/tweeters'.
I want to use them with 12" bass/low midrange loudspeakers say 50 - 100watts through an active (electronic) crossover.
My question is what is the maximum power at what crossover frequency (at 12dB per octive) I can use for the Midaxs?
I understand that the power required will be different for different crossover points and the efficiency of the drivers comes into it.
Stuart.

Hi
The Goodmans specification for the Midax;
-frequency range 650 -8000c/s
-crossover frequencies 950 and 5000 c/s
-Impedance 15 ohms
-system power handling requirements 25 watts ( 50 USA measurements )
The Goodmans trebax handled frequencies above 5000 c/s. The trebax had a frequency range of 2500 to 20000 c/s and was 15 ohms impedance.
The Goodmand bass unit handled frequencies below 650 c/s and was also 15 ohms impedance.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
My very short and simple advice is sell them as
vintage drivers, they go for around £300 a pair.
Then build whatever speaker you want with
modern drivers and a lot more information.
Search on the "Econowave".
rgds, sreten.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
Don - I found the bit about 'system power handling requirements 25 watts', but I want to know how much of that 25 watts goes to the Midax as I want to bi-amp.
sreten. - If I can't find how much power the Midax can take, I might just try that.
Stuart.

The key to the low power handling of the midax, trebax and bass unit is that they are very very efficient. I can not lay my hands on the db and gauss figures for the bass unit; however I can say that an 8 watt amplifier provides enough noise for a small local hall.
