I'm looking for another opamp to replace the philips TDA1308A I've fired on my soundcard (this is a headphone amp, but don't bother. It's fos a line output, not for headphones)
and the opamp is only powered with 0 and +5V, wich good opamps can I use for this?
so low voltage+single rail.
PS: can I use any +- rails opamp with single rail, and set +V to 1/2 Vcc and add a 1/2Vcc offset to the -V signal? (and off course, an output cap)

This should be a rail-to-rail OPBricolo said:I'm looking for another opamp to replace the philips TDA1308A I've fired on my soundcard (this is a headphone amp, but don't bother. It's fos a line output, not for headphones)

with good current output drive.
There are crertainly a lot of them around, modern.
Perhaps one of them video 50ohms line drivers.
See each OP amp manufacturers Selection guide
for example Linear Technology
or Burr-Brown
or National Semiconductors
or Philips
or Analog Devices
LT - Linear Technology OP amp Selector Guide
National Analog Amplifiers
halo - no problems the alternatives are out there! 😉 in modern shape ...
TI's selector guide is now online
in the past couple days TI just put their op-amp selector up as a 40+ page PDF -- also -- TI is now making knock-offs of some of the Linear chips, by the way. I just got in some LT1013's TI parts and they work identically as compared with the Linear Tech LT1013's.

Not necessarily a good idea to just split the rail -- without careful attention to detail you will have the signal propogating itself back into the power supply., or the noise of the power supply propogating itself into the amplifier.

I know those websites
but does womeone know a good sounding single rail opamp?
One that is known to sound good

My OPamps doesn't make a sound - dead quiet.Bricolo said:I know those websites

If they did make sounds - I'd be totally crazy. 😀
I do not like Cables, that makes sounds either,
hope I never meet any of those.......

My music make sound from the speakers. 😉
/halo - probably an exception
- having dead quiet components - as far as his ears go 😎
try to put your ear closer to your opamp 😉halojoy said:

He He - that was a good JOKE! Bricolo
Well, I guess I have to try,
put my OPamp inside my ear .......
I can use some wires to supply the power
to my ear
/halo - will test his OP amps - in the modern way
- by listening tests
You make me laugh 🙂Bricolo said:try to put your ear closer to your opamp 😉

new project: an opamp with an exponential horn 😀halojoy said:

Who need Tweeters & Woofers
Who need Woofers & Tweeters
when we have OP-amps that sounds (good)
Just make a good horn to get some
well-sounding
- OP-Speakers -
We can find out the T/S parameters by tests
by running tests on the different OP-amps
What would be the VAS of an OPA2134??
/halo - the new age in Audio is here !!!!!!! 😎
Yes, of course!Bricolo said:new project: an opamp with an exponential horn 😀

Re: Good opamp
i need a double one
thanks Nicke 🙂
oh yes, I forgot to mention itNicke said:You could try the AD823 if you need a double opamp.
Not bad IMHO.....
Nicke
i need a double one
thanks Nicke 🙂
Re: Re: Good opamp
+3 dB SPL (sound pressure level)
will probably need somewhat bigger horn
/halo
A double OP will sound twice as LOUDBricolo said:oh yes, I forgot to mention it

I think he meansBricolo said:what about an AD826?
nickle: what is a "not too hard load" ?
Stones are too hard as loads.
Wood or plastic would be more soft loads for
to make AD826 to work well.
OPA627 is more tolerant on hard loads.
/halo - use very soft loads, for his NE5534 - Some Old Socks! 🙄
10k, hum
it wouldn't fit with my headphones, the rare times i'll use them directly on the soundcard 🙁
halojoy: a 627 don't fit here, i need +5V supply
