Goldring Eroica LX vs AT33ev for classical music

Hello Chaps,

Has anyone ever compared those two MC cartridges? I am looking for a MM or MC that is ideal for classical music - large orchestral works - for a reasonable price.

I have had FR, Benz, several Ortofons, Sumiko, Grado, Denon, etc. but I am still not hundred percent satisfied. I am aware that the sound depends on ancillary equipment too. I am using a Klyne 6 series preamp.

Cheers,

Horacio

ok, based on your list I think you are chasing something that may not exist. I;ve been using a benz L0.4 for the last 20 years and it is superb on all genres.

So step one is telling us what you think is missing and we can work from there.

(aside nice list if you have any cast offs to sell let me know).

QUAD ESL 63s fully upgraded, panels and electronics driven by an upgraded 405-2, Gradient SW-63s driven by an Electrocompaniet DMB100. LP12/Ittok and new Denon DL-103R. It may be true that I am chasing for something that may not exist. I had three pairs of 63s and in between other British speakers and Goldmunds, differemt amps and preamps.

Even though human memory is unreliable I cannot forget the sound of my QUADS [1980] with a Mark Levinson ML1, Berning EA-230, Linn/Ittok/FR MC201.

And what was 'right' about that setup. You can get a FR MC201 rebuilt easily enough. That might be an option...

One of the AT-33 variants is on my list to try one day. I'm tending towards getting a 1980s model retipped as gold plated Beryllium does it for me in the bling stakes. If I were going for new I would get the PTG/II. The goldring I know nothing about.
