First a little background
This is an old samsonite briefcase
inside it has a Sure 11141-112v100 (2x 100 watt) amp
a battery
2 polk db401
2 polk mm651
1 old pioneer horn that while connected is mostly for looks
a few relavant pics (too large to attach)

I have run into a couple issues recently and I am not sure what the problem is...
1) should the cooling fan on the amp be always on? or is it temperature controlled? It does not seem to run at all on mine (maybe the root of my issues?)
2) I notice that over time while it plays it gets quieter but if you bump it a bit the volume picks back up. Initially i thought this could be a battery problem but I had it at the beach the other day and a little bump would crank the volume right back up which wouldnt make sense if the battery was out of charge?
Any ideas about this would be much appreciated
Thanks!

1) The amp will never get hot enough for the fan to turn on when you're only supplying it with 12V. It's also only outputs 2x15W on 12V, mind you.
2) You have a lose connection. Probably one of the signal wires needs replacing.

one more quick question... Could the speakers magnets proximity to the crossover be affecting it?
If it is near the bass filter (coil), and it has magnetic core, then the magnet will saturate it causing unlinearity and distortion.
ok so it has been running pretty well but the other day i noticed a a really high pitched whine / distortion coming out of the tweeters this happened before when I was using it outside a a thunder storm came through turned it off for a bit and it was gone.....but the other night it seemed to stick around through a few power cycles...
Any ideas?
