Hi folks.
I'm looking for the following:
Hitachi 2SB655 (2 needed)
Hitachi 2SD675 (2 needed)
Ideally I'd like brand new old stock items, but would consider perfect condition used transistors.
Please PM me if you have these.
- John
P.S. I saw these on Ebay but I am not sure if they are genuine, as they look different to the ones in the 2nd link:
4pcs, 2SD675 +2SB655 Audio Power Transistor MOT TO-3 - eBay (item 180566635025 end time Jan-24-11 02:41:19 PST)
And what they look like in a vintage amp (same as mine - Sony TA-F6B):

Hi,
It's obvious the ebay seller is a surplus dealer but you never know what
unsrcupulous people might offer him as good deals (counterfeit/fakes).So stay away from such transistors and Motorola has never made japanese transistors ( the logo looks like hitachi ) being an american tech company has no reason to but has been bought over by a japanese group (semiconductor division) and is now knowned as ON Semiconductor how ironic?.BTW the transistors look too new and shiny but you never know it may have been well kept?Remember these parts have ceased production in the 80s or 90s? Look at your's ,how corroded they are?
There is no reason to chase after obsolete parts as there are modern
equivalents to choose from unless you have golden ears and like the
sound of japanese transistors. Regards.

Bdent.com would be a good source for these if still available and they are not. Get modern equivalents and be done with it.

No hit for the 2SD675
I've bought other NOS from them.

I see alot of absolute fakes on ebay for Toshiba TO3 for example, look at listings for B557, there is only one genuine listing showing proper transistor, vendor leemoom611 with the backside indentations, rather than smooth. And that is if he ships as shown in his listing as opposed to smooth, that has happened to me, vendor lists a proper photo then sends something else out. Best to just get ON equivalent from reputable vendor (ie digikey) and not deal with shady characters. The B557 ON sub (MJ21193G) works great on my 2285B, could not be more pleased.

Thanks for the replies.
The amp I have has been serviced (very badly) in the past so I am trying to get the TA-F6B back to original specs. and undo all the problems. I know newer transistors are 'better' but I always prefer to keep the amp as it was originally designed, and how it sounded.
My amp has MJ21193 and 94 transistors fitted which I assume is actually a good sub?
But I am still looking for original Hitachi's & if someone happens to fond/own a pair I'd still be interested in buying. Thanks for that link Ed I'll check that out.
Thanks,
- John

Still searching for genuine pairs of 2SB655 & 2SD675.
There are some on Ebay, but they're obviously rebranded modern transistors. The originals should look like this:
Please PM me if you have these for sale.
Cheers,

Sadly, in my experience, it is not possible to find genuine transistors on Ebay. 🙁 I've tried to crack open some, and they weren't real (miniscule die). Good outer looks, though.
Unfortunately fakes are on the rise. I'm hoping I might get lucky and get some NOS, or someone will have some 'pulls' from another piece of equipment.
Looks like the picture has been taken down. Here it is again:
