I was gifted a lovely set of Model 2+s. The 8" woofers are rubbing. The tweets are working,& the 10 passive radiator is refoamed. I basically need crossover caps & new 8"woofers. Have any suggestions? The cabs are very nice....

The Human Speakers website SpeakerDoctor found has a DIY page where they sell the PRO 001 Woofer and PRO 003 Woofer. The PRO 001 is stated on another Genesie III repair page to be the NEW RUBBER surround replacement for Genesis III woofers. You should double check this info for insurance.

Go to your favorite cheap speaker websites and look for a close size plus T/S match. MCM, Parts Express, Madisound.

MANY DIY'ers would carefully measure the internal cabinet dimensions and look for a modern design that fits, expecting both superior sound and many years of failure free enjoyment.

I'm thinking I'll have replace the tweeters at some point & after market stuff will be fine. These aren't my main speakers. I didn't know these were 4 ohm speakers originally. I'll look into 8 ohm woofers & tweets. I never was a fan of inverted tweeters. You can see everything was done as cheap as possible.

Don't just slap in 8 ohm drivers and expect anything to sound any good. A complete re-do of the crossover will also be necessary to compensate for the increase in impedance.

P.S. You might as well dig into those drivers and see why they are rubbing. It could just be a botched refoam. The gaps are pretty huge, but the spiders are very soft so you could still easily misalign them if you had no idea what you were doing.

The voice coil on both woofs was over heated & burned away the spider & cone. There isn't a crossover on the woofs, just the tweeter. I've been comparing 8" woofs that roll off smoothly after 2K... The Peerless 830869 looks good and has great reviews on this forum for 2way system....and may not need a crossover..These are Genesis 2+ 2way system with passive radiator. I went over the cabs w/Howards Restor & Feed/n Wax.....Very happy with how they turned out... The tweet crossover is a 10uf & a coil with a switch for a resistor.
