WAF won't allow me to build what I want and think I need. Females are allowed to change their minds.
I have 4 generic woofers here from the cheap subwoofers that have dead amplifiers.
All had 100W chip amps
No woofer Tester yet.
But these look to be pretty standard 12" woofers.
Weight is 3.9kg each; 6.5 Ohm DCR; front plates are 8mm thick. back plates 7mm thick with a 12mm bump out and the magnet itself is 26mm thick and the magnet is 14mm across. With a 12mm vent I'm also thinking a 40mm voice coil, so 100 watts is going to be peak handling and half that constant
These were in 36l ported boxes
WAG here but 6mm excursion 12mm P2P and Fs around 30Hz.
A box no taller than 950mm by 500mm deep and 490mm wide is the maximum acceptable now, which rules out the 15" drivers.
Asking people to hazard a guess on a couple of boxes with these drivers and that hundred litre box if sealed.
Yes I know its asking for a WAG but due to Covid both cash and WAF are almost non existant and "Happy wife happy life" to a very large degree.
Before thy died a single sub couldn't keep up with the mains neither could
pair of them. I needed to add a pair of 10" long throw subs of the same brand using the same amplifier to do that.
Given that I'm hoping a quad of these will work if I can find a cheap stereo amplifier with at least 200 watts available My garage system amp may work in the short term however it really doesn't like 4R loads
I am worried that these won't have enough excursion to handle bass boost around the +6dB at 30Hz needed for movies and would appreciate all the WAGs you can come up with
