Why can I not go directly to the first post of a thread? Clicking on a thread name takes me to the latest post.

If the whole forum - or any thread - is marked as read then the software will take you to the last post. Normally the software would take you to the first unread post in a thread, because it assumes you don't want to read posts that you have already seen.
If you have read the whole thread but want to go to post #1, then just click on the button for page #1.
