Hi to everyone,

Well i thought i would say hello and introduce myself. I live in australia and like many others here i love my music. I stumbled into the world of diy only a couple of months ago. I must admit that the bug has got me and am looking forward to having a dig at some diy projects in the very near future (as funds permit). look forward to being a part of this forum. tc all from down under.

Hi guys and thanks for the welcome,

I am 34 and am glad to meet some fellow ausies😀 , and everybody else too lol. Cant help you out with the women skinny but there are plenty there in adelaide so i hear
I must agree with you there circlotron (i think lmao), even though i am just a beginer. My interests at the moment are in building a set of loudspeakers for home brett. I am using some old speakers at the moment that i don't even know the name of lol.

Well thanks again for the welcome and hope to chat with you again soon.

Circlotron, you might be able to sugest a good place in melb to purchase some scanspeak drivers, i have had a hard time trying to find somewhere to get them here, and if at all possible the speaker design cook book by vance dickason.
Thanks, oz😉

Welcome.............

WES Components have a big range of Peerless, Vifa and Scanspeak drivers at pretty good prices.

Welcome to the forum.
We need more Aussies to help bash some sense into those foreigners, especially the Texans............

Cheers,
Eric.

PS,
Brett (Brett) can only think tubes and horn loudspeakers.
Hugh (AKSA) keeps a level head and supplies some very well regarded amplifiers of his own design.
Graham (Circlotron) keeps coming up with crazy ideas - I blame the water.
Darren (Skinnyboy) is still looking for his first girlfriend.

Thanks guys

I was after the scanspeak 18w/8545 mid and wes components in syd. dont deal with that particular model...(doh). From everything that i have read about this driver it seems to be quite good, and i would like to incorporate it if i can, if i cant well i will have to find a replacement, (any recomendations would be good).

Good to meet you all to (thumbs up)😀

G'day OZ (O.K. it's rather good-night !)

AFAIK a member of this forum is running a DIY speaker shop in Melbourne. I just have to think about the name of the company. They use Perless/Scanspeak drivers for their kits. Maybe they can also supply the particular model on request.

Regards

Charles

Thanks charles,

Hopefully i will be able to catch up with him at some stage(AFAIK that is), and see if he can help out or knows where to get them. If you happen to remember the name of the shop that would be great😀 .

Thumbs up
Tyrone

Hi Oz,

I got the loudspeaker design cookbook at Jaycar (ed 6). It wasn't cheap though I think $85........ even though the shelf said $35....... I had a bit of an argument about it, specially since the back of the book said $35, but they said the price on the shelf was for the 5th edition, and the price on the back of the book was in American dollars, even with exchange rate, it should only have come out at around $55, but I couldn't find it anywhere else so I bought it anyway.

Regards,

Tony.
