Hi,
after ten years of almost daily use I sell my trusty set of speakers. The only reason why I sell these wonderful sounding speakers is that I've been able to find their larger brothers : the Winchesters.

The cabinets and drivers are in perfect condition. I'm not kidding, they are like new. I sell them with the original spikes and manual.

For those who don't known them I've found this description:
Refined, Elegant Factory Matched Set (Matching Serial Numbers) of CASTLE Acoustics Harlech Series 2 Bi-Amp / Bi-Wire Speakers with Flawless Kevlar Woofers and Exquisite Hand Made Real Wood Cabinetry. Made In England, Extremely Rare in the USA and Winner of the HiFi Choice Award !

Castle Acoustics was founded in 1973 by a group formerly with Wharfedale, and headed by Graham McGee. The impetus was to return to hand made speakers designed and built from the ground up completely in-house. Castle very quickly made a reputation for themselves for not just designing and building sweet sounding custom designed quality drivers and speaker systems in the high end audio market, but also in creating hand made and beautifully appointed cabinets that looked like fine sculptural furniture. Everything in Castle was built in their own factory, including the sumptuous veneers and beautifully detailed cabinets - the Castle Acoustics brand was about doing everything right down to the smallest detail. They never made many speakers, but what they did design and build they did so beautifully, and they are very sought after.

Castle Acoustics speakers are named after actual famous castles, and these Harlech Series 2 speakers are named after the Harlech Castle in Wales. The cabinetry is exceptional, all hand-made (at the time that these Harlech S2’s were built) at their factory in Skipton, England and with custom designed Kevlar drivers with heavy cast frames. These speakers make use of quarter-wave ‘Voigt’ bass loading and are tuned to provide musicality and warmth – a sonic signature that Castle is famous for.

The Harlech S2 is an unusual design from a number of standpoints. It has a top mid-woofer that creates a very spacious sound field – if you are familiar with Roy Allison designs, it is a very similar sonic effect. In addition, the bottom section of the tower ends in a fluted port which is invisible unless you flip the speaker over to look at the underside. Like B&W, they use extremely high quality woven Carbon Fiber woofer cones – essentially Kevlar.

Castle’s reputation is to create enjoyable / listenable speakers that are also beautiful to look at – that is their hallmark. It may fly in the face of conventional speaker design and they may sacrifice flat response and perfect imaging, but Castle has always been about enjoying music, creating that signature Castle sweet sound and eliminating listener fatigue. Although somewhat slim (only 8” wide), these towers can easily pressurize mid sized listening rooms, and at 89 dB are very easy to drive. The overall tonal signature of the Castles is a bit on the warm side of neutral, and like B&W they have a bit of a rise on the lower mid range of the frequency response which accentuates vocals very nicely. These Harlech Series 2 model speakers are a perfect example of the rich sound that Castle is famous for. You can listen all day without the hint of fatigue, even at moderate to high volumes.

Asking price is 690 euro.

They are in Belgium. I've no idea how much it costs to send them to other parts of the world.
