Hi there I.m new to this forum but I have had some time on the fullrange driver forum and the Gainclone forums.
I have built a few things but all of it in the past 4 months, except for speakers bult last year.
So far 12 gainclone modules, including altronics kits and micro clones soldered completely onto the chips (LM1875s), studio series preamp. bass boost module, buffers 3, a few power supplies, and a couple of headphone amps. and another two sets of speakers.
Pretty pleased with how its going, so far everything has worked, and considering I knew nothing about electronics 6 months ago I reckon its great, only possible though due to the great input from countless people on various forums.
Still very sketchy on lots of theory and working to solve that, theory is very important to me, I run a digital imaging training business and always tell my students they need to really understand what is going on in the background.
Lots of interests and hobbies and very much a DIY guy, I have built homes, cars, restored motorbikes, restored and built furniture, landscaped gardens, and I guess the electronics had to come somewhere!
I am a professional photographer and very heavily involved in community education (over 25yrs).
So thats me.
For the moment I'm looking to get some solid knowledge on subs and digital gear.
In the long run I really hope I can be of much help to others on these forums as they have been to me!
In closing what really blows me away is that for what are really modest amounts of money we can create gear that sound so bloody amazing, gainclones for example absolutley rock! I am really motivated by the do it on a shoe string concept, get as much as possible out of as little as possible.

We sure can. I built myself some gainclone type amps about 12 years ago and was blown away by their performance. I see you've some woodworking skills. I hope you find the desire to press them into service again.
