Hi
Here are my few links to sites/pages/articles I found very useful when I was trying to understand the very nature of a PSU. (my research isn't over, by far not, but here's what I already have in my bookmarks):
Others have other, better sources (mind to share?), but this should make for some brainfood...
Here are my few links to sites/pages/articles I found very useful when I was trying to understand the very nature of a PSU. (my research isn't over, by far not, but here's what I already have in my bookmarks):
- The safe way to building a Gainclone (chip amp) power supply for beginners. (link was provided by 6L6)
- Lightbulb tester, very important when powering up something for the first time, this one by 6L6
- generally, Elliot Sounds Products provides many great articles about almost whatever you need to know (diyaudio-wise)
- Linear Power Supply Design, by Elliot Sounds Products
- A Simple Capacitance Multiplier Power Supply For Class-A Amplifiers, by Elliot Sounds Products
- Calculating Required Capacitor (Capacitance) Value, @diyaudio / gotee
- (a product I found noteworthy)
- (another product I found noteworthy, support here @ diyaudio)
Others have other, better sources (mind to share?), but this should make for some brainfood...
Don't pass by a good book (not too old fashioned I hope???) like The Art of Electronics from Horowitz and Hill
Gold mine of information for people starting out.

Oh yeah, forgot those 2.
First Watt (and Passdiy of course)
I looked after the Art of Electronics, it is really good, and Horowitz / Hill are 2 really nice persons! If you get to buy the book, I recommend to make sure you get the original one (others may be pirated). Really much much nicer "build", and the $ goes to the right people.
