Free Headphone Amplifier Demo Program. This is a split thread. See post #1 for details.

:cop: Moderator Edit.
This new thread is split off from here:

To thank everyone in this forum for their continuous support and encouragement for my project (94 messages and 90 thumbs up received), I plan to start a free headphone amplifier demo program, currently limited to North America. Here’s the plan I came up with. It might not be perfect, so if you have better suggestions, feel free to let me know.

  1. A list will be created for people who want to try the amplifier for free. Once the list has more than 5 people, the program will begin.
  2. I will contact the first person on the list and send them an amplifier and headphones (as shown in the picture). To allow more people to try the product, participants need to pay a $1,000 deposit.
  3. When the current participant's time is up, they should contact the next person on the list. Once the next person pays the deposit, the current participant will ship the amplifier and headphones to them.
    • Each participant's maximum demo period is 2–3 weeks. If a participant exceeds 3 weeks without following the subsequent steps to continue the demo process or contacting me to request an extension, it will be assumed that they wish to keep the amplifier and headphones. In such cases, the deposit will not be refunded, and I will resume the demo plan with the next person on the list.
    • If the next person does not respond within 3 days, move to the next person on the list.
  4. Once the next participant receives the package, I will refund the deposit to the current participant.
  5. When the next participant receives the package, they become the current participant. Once their demo time ends, they should repeat step 3.
  6. When no one is left on the list, the final participant will return the amplifier and headphones to me, and I will refund their deposit. This completes the demo program.
During the program, each participant only needs to cover the shipping cost for the product, including me. I will always hold $1,000 as a deposit for the current user and temporarily hold $2,000 during shipping transitions.

Participants must prepare their own audio source. The source should have volume control and a standard 3.5mm audio output. Please avoid using low-quality audio files, as this amplifier can reveal slight artifacts caused by compression.

To ensure the program runs smoothly, I ask that every participant handle the equipment with care and avoid any damage under normal use. If the product is damaged, the participant should return it to me. Upon receiving the damaged product, I will refund the deposit, terminate the demo program, and post details and photos of the damage in this thread.

This program will keep participants’ personal information to a minimum (only shared between the previous and next participant). By joining, you agree to this limited information sharing and acknowledge that I am not responsible for any negative impacts resulting from it.

That makes little sense given that you mentioned $500 cost before, then offered a 30% discount for early adopters. My guess will be that you won't get any $1,000 deposits.

Also, the last few companies to send devices here for listening tests did so without any deposit whatsoever. I guaranteed I would have a well-known industry expert on the listening panel, and a wrote up and posted a review in another forum, given the designer of the device wanted the results made public. If the designer wants a private listening test (most common) we can also do that.

Moreover, I would have to make up some custom adapters so we can listen to this thing on big electrostatic speakers instead of just headphones. I will have to put together a dummy load equivalent to headphones, then possibly have to pad the level down to feed into the big system we use to judge SQ. I will not charge you for that work however.

Thank you! This is a different "product." The $500/unit one refers to the monoblock loudspeaker amplifier module. This plan, however, is specifically for the headphone amplifier and is intended for those who may be interested in trying it out.

To ensure the plan proceeds smoothly, a deposit is one possible solution. However, if everyone agrees it's unnecessary, I’m open to revising the plan accordingly.

Of course, once I have a detailed business plan, I will need your help in inviting industry experts to evaluate this product and provide public reviews.
