Hi Everyone,
I need to buy Fostex x-15 or x-18, or I can trade Tascam Portastudio 414 MK II. Demo tapes recorded on x-15 back in 90s play much too fast on Tascam even though I turned Pitch Control all the way to the left. I bought it on eBay, got it delivered today. It's in excellent shape. If someone can sell a Fostex or trade it for Tascam please let me know

I am not very up to date as far as technology goes. I want a simple multi track recorder to make simple demos. Is a Fostex x18 a good way to go? or is there something low priced thats comperable to the Fostex thats digital and is easy to use? Part of me thinks it's ridiculous to buy technology from 1980's.

Ancient tape decks, for which many parts are no longer available, all to get cassette recorder performance. If you had one trying to fix, that would be one thing. But if starting out from scratch to make demo tapes, there are any number of digital recorders on the market that will run rings around a cassette deck, with more features as well.

Hard disc recorders have become fairly inexpensive at the entry level end of the scale. And some include options like disc burner.
