Fostex recommended enclosure (F200A)

Hello,

I seems at least some few does build the Fostex recommended enclosures.

I tried a simulation of the F200A using LspCad software and Fostex' proposed enclosure.

V=45L, PortLength=140mm, PortDia=80mm
Half Space SPL, (No damping material in below simulation).

F200A: http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/speaker_comp/pdf/f200a.pdf

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I tried captioned Enclosure alignment some year ago and I did actually find the sound somewhat boomy that time. Has anyone here any opinion on Fostex box proposals "generally speaking"..?

Or, perhaps I simply did something wrong in my sims.? Can anyone run sims on this driver to see if you get same result as me.

Many thanks in advance

Sorry, something wrong with my links. The SPL chart previous post shows another sim I did (not the Fostex one).

Here under is the SPL chart using Fostex recommended enclosure
V=45L, PortLength=140mm, PortDia=80mm

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

So, another try then. Do I do something wrong in my sims? Can anyone try this element to see if you get same result?
Many thanks in advance

Edit: FYR here is link to Fostex recommended enclosures-> http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/speaker_comp/ff_enc.shtml

I don't have time to double-check, but it looks about right. FWIW, I'd say the basic alignment is not going to be ideal for music in most situations -flat alignments are usually anything but due to room-gain, at least in most Western rooms. I'd be more inclined toward something like Bob Brines's FTA2000 reverse-taper horn / tapered QW cabinet, a pure TL, sealed box, leaky sealed box / aperiodic / damped vent design with it, or possibly a horn variation.

Thanks Scottmoose and I belive you ar right. I was just curious how the Fostex own alignments simulates. I believe I saw somewhere simulations of some Fostex other element (could not find now). With that Fostex BR it also showed this "bump" in the spl diagram at lower bass prior fading out. As you said, maybe it has something to do with different preferences due to difference Western vs. Japanese rooms...
