This is a pair of Sachiko cabinets with a rare pair of Fostex FE 206ES –R drivers. These are single full range driver speakers, Nagaoko-style / double mouth back loaded horn design. This cabinet was originally designed for the Fostex FE 206E drivers. The Fostex FE 206ES –R drivers, with phase plugs, now in these cabinets are from a limited production run of special drivers made by Fostex. They have larger magnets, stronger baskets and are more efficient. To my ear, they are superior in every respect to the FE 206E, yielding better detail, tighter bass, cleaner highs and better imaging.

I bought the cabinets from a guy in Oceanside, CA, who made them according to the plans from Frugal-horn.com. I have a copy of the plans if you want them. These cabinets are well made and very sturdy, made of ¾” Baltic birch plywood. The finish, on the other hand is not so great. High gloss urethane was used, so they are pretty bomb proof, but the application was done poorly and there are lots of runs and ripples. If you want a better looking finish, you will need to do some sanding, then staining or painting. None of this has anything to do with the outstanding sound quality of these speakers.

Here are the specs:
Height – 72”
Width – 13”
Depth – 18”
Fostex FE 206ES –R – 98 dB, freq. response 42 – 20,000 Hz.

I run these with a 45 based, 1.8 watt amp, and they sound great. I don’t think they really go down to 42 Hz, probably more like 50.

I have sold my house and will be moving in a couple of weeks. I would like to sell these to someone who will use and appreciate them. If they are not sold, they will go into long term storage. I will not ship these, so you need to pick them up in Fallbrook, CA, or I might arrange to have them delivered in the Southern California area.

I am asking $1,250 for this incredibly huge and great sounding pair of speakers. Your brother-in-law and neighbors will be envious.
