foobar2000 and vinyl playback

foobar2000 has a DSP component that supports RIAA equalization. Is this to be used only with ripped vinyl tracks or it can also be used for direct vinyl playback? If the latter, I can't for the life of me figure how to do it with my E-MU 0404 USB audio interface.

Maybe any other software that can do this?

well it seems the component is indeed to be used for playing back vinyl rips where no riaa equalization has been applied, a very unlikely situation
