I am about to fit a new laser assembly,Philips VAM1250,to my Marantz 4050 but cannot find any sign of a safety static link/solder spot which should be removed before the unit can work. I have closely examined old original and the new units many times but this still eludes me !
I have replaced laser assemblies on 4 different CDPs in the past and always found there was a safety link to be removed.Can anyone give me help here with info' on where this link is to be found on the VAM1250......or does anyone know if indeed there is such a link to be removed on this model replacement,maybe it doesn't even exist !

Philips replacement laser mechs usually don't have that solder spot, but are fitted with a shorting clip over the free end of the flexible PCB foil.
Don't remove it until the last possible moment on installing and use good anti-static precautions when you do - it's easy to damage the photodiodes (not the laser!)
