Fisher kx-100 Recitfire problem

hello people,

i got a fisher kx 100 tube amp for cheap. it works well, but somebody changed the GZ34 tube recitfire to an ordinary silikon recitfire. i want to change it to an tube recitfire again.
my problem, the guy who make the chang change the wiring on the socket too and i have no shematic diagram of the amp. a good picture of the amps wiring would also help.

is there anybody out there who can help me?

greetings from austria

There should be two HV wires(possibly red) coming from the power transformer going to the anodes of the SS diodes, put one on pin 4 & the other on pin 6 of the octal socket for the rectifier tube leaving the SS diodes out. There will be two heater wires (possibly yellow) coming from the power transformer also that are probably not connected to anything at the moment, those go to pins 2 & 8 of the octal socket. One last wire (possibly red) that comes from the SS diode cathodes (striped end) to the first electrolytic filter capacitor, that needs to go to pin 8 of the octal socket. Check voltages using a Variac and no tubes in place at first. You should have a high AC voltage on pins 4 & 6, both referenced to ground. Do NOT measure across pins 4 & 6 unless your meter can handle 1000VAC. Most are limited to 700-750VAC. Now measure across pins 2 & 8 for approx. 5 VAC. That should be it.

Stay away from the JJs, we just returned a bunch and the distributor has been having many problems with JJs lately, not just GZ34s either. Used to be pretty good tubes, when the first KT77s came in they were pretty good too but not anymore. A Mullard or similar is best if don't mind paying through the nose for them.

hmm, i´m a little bit worried, :xeye

i've ordered the JJ GZ34 before i read your posting.
i hope it will work. i had looked for a cheap tube to try the amp.
i want to change the 4 EL 84 next, if the rectifire will work. i want to do that step by step. i've heard also some bad things about the JJ Tubes but most of the tubes are work ok.

for the end tubes i will try to get some NOS Philips ore Telefunken Tubes. If i cant get them, i will try sovtek or some other russian parts.

hello people,

the JJ works fine.but unfortunatly i had to buy a new power transformer, the old one has only one anode output for a silicium recitfire. but now it works, also with 4 new output tubes (electro harmonix).

works fine

thanks to all

regards
