I bought a nice looking firstwatt chassis from ebay.
Now I want the fitting speaker posts. My chassis is drilled with 11mm holes, 20mm apart.
On the picture, it looks like an aleph J or firstwatt J2 chassis. Can you recommend me the fitting speaker posts and where I can get them from?
Regs, Dirk
P.S.: All the other stuff is no problem: I found them in my box... ;-)

This is clone chassis not original i guess...
Imagine you buy fake iPhone case from China and after go to official Apple store
ask company send you operation system and hardware extensions for your counterfait phone project... 😱
Forum is for do- it- your-self projects who respect original commercial products
and always like to thanks for share interesting schematics and builds to DiyAudio electronic hobby amateurs community.
Please don't abuse generosity
Best regards 🙄
I think, a clone chassis has nothing to do with abuse. It's a tribute to the original design, nothing else. It's interior will be a f3, f5, aleph j...
I just like the look.
any idea, which speaker posts will fit?

This is stolen special chassais shape created & designed for FW trade mark brand.
I belive without permission produce this chassis is abuse and illegal.
Really nothing else ?
Do you buy fake transistors from China and think this guys make you tribute to original components ? 😀

in this case (with that case) I believe urge for regular Greedy Boy is just too strong , to be able to skip
even if filling pocket of dirt copy bstrd , it is Kudos to Pa .......
posts - why don't you try to find exactly same as on FW chassis ?
disclaimer - as long as number of these cases isn't too great ........

The problem is you will have fewer and fewer people putting the effort into designing the first version of things if the market gets overrun with 'tributes'.
If you take the incentive of being paid for it then there will be a lot less innovation out there.
If the design part were easy then there wouldn't need to be knock-offs because they would just design their own.
Complete cosmetic copy is in Poor taste .. by any yardstick.
Thoughts fixated on Resale perhaps ?

Here we go...
Your thread name is " firstwatt chassis... "
but you don't have one

In reality you spend money to grow illegal knock-off enclosures bussines with total no respect to FW rights and think all ok ?
😱
ps. Cardas copper contacts can oxided very quickly
Well, I bought one of those "illegal" chassis from the fellow in Thailand for my project of turning my J2 into two mono amps. It was difficult to find something else for the "other" channel plus Mr. Pass is not interested in selling the boxes himself which is completely understandable. In fact until I became aware of this box I had not found a box I could use.
With the clone chassis I will be able to move one channel's heatsink PCB assembly to the clone box and it will fit.
It seems one should reserve their righteousness over those who produce whole amplifiers and then sell them.
The clone chassis has a faceplate that would never be mistaken for a FIRST WATT device so I cannot imagine anyone being able to fool someone into thinking it is something from the hands of Mr. Pass.
I do think the rancor this fellow has received is overblown and confusing.
I love Mr. Pass and his gifts to us as much as anyone but I guess I cannot see the harm done by this fellow buying a box
The guy bought a box. Not as if the box is sold super cheap. I assume we are speaking of the same box. Appropriate boxes are not easy to find. I know I was glad it existed for my situation.
ps all copper oxidizes quickly including the wire in your interconnects and speaker cables if they are not tinned.

The problem is that it is a little dubious to make your chassis look like a well-known commercial product and try to sell it using a trademark you don't own (in fact that's not legal in most jurisdictions that respect international copyright law). Given Nelson's contributions to the diy community etc. I think it is fully understandable if people here want to respect his IPR.
What always baffles me is that Lord knows there isn't that many great chassis designs out there for class A amps. If you can make a great looking chassis at a reasonable cost, why complicate things with trademark infringement? Give it a plain front panel, skip any mention of anyone else's trademarks and just call it what it is - a class A amplifier chassis that is great quality and great value for money.
If you did that, yes you'd probably lose the copycats that try to make a little extra off selling FW clones - but every diy'er who has no interest in making FW clone amps that look like clones or offending Nelson and his IPR would be lining up around the block instead!
I routinely check eBay and a few other places for chassis for my builds, but half the time I see something nice the seller has attempted to "improve" it by making it look like something that came off the line at Krell, ML, Pass Labs or similar and stencilling logos all over the place which is an instant turn-off.
Personally, I'm still hoping that someone in Asia with access to the right materials and tools will see the light and realise that if you can deliver a good product that is good value for money, there is probably a sizeable gap in the market here waiting to be exploited.
