I'd like an amp rig that's based on swappable circuit modules that you can "roll" like tubes. DIY First Watt circuits are an obvious choice for this concept as there are so many circuits to choose from. Other circuits will be great too, JLH, etc. If I create formfactor for this will Papa disavow?
Server rack or maybe Eurorack with pins would be a general concept. For example, a 1U chassis with active cooling, universal PSU and swappable amp/preamp circuits.

probably not, that's reserved exclusively for ZM, I'm under eternal disgrace

Hello Haze Head,
many of the poweramp-projects in the diyAudiostore have this kind of 'modular concept'
The amps like F4, F5, F6,... have in the outputstages/boards the so called diyAudio - UMS.
Universal Mounting Specs... Exceptions are the ACA, F5M,...
This means, that you can exchange those pcbs and transistors pretty easily from the heatsinks.
Check the diyAudiostore for more information.
Most of the poweramp - projects run on +-24 V DC - rails. So you can reuse your PSU for a few projects.
This could be done also for preamp - projects. But all the boards / pcbs would have to be redesigned to have
the same mountinghole- pattern.
Only some thoughts.
And: I like modular concepts. 😉
Cheers
Dirk

yeah .......... and when someone actually make that, first next requirement is going to be "make them hot-swappable!!!"

not ZM ......... cringing even thinking of 1A5 (and up) going through socket pins, even if few paralleled

F5M is UMS.
I'm not sure re: the mounting pattern of ACA, but since it's not a First Watt, and it runs off a single rail supply, I don't know if it's in the OP's scope.
Cheers!
Well, now that everyone is obviously enamored with my idea lol. Actually ZM is thinking more inline with my intent, albeit to his dismay. I am being literal in terms of discrete modules, not moving circuit board A to chassis B, etc. Complete modules that are plug-n-play. And no, they don't have to be "hot" capable, just very easily swappable.
The fact that I didn't get a like from ZM here has me seriously questioning his sense of humor. In this case I pivot and bring to your attention .... "Zen Modules"
^ ZM does not do "likes". 🙂 You may get a comment, but I don't know that I've EVER seen ZM hit the like button. Maybe he'll like this post.

Plan B. "Non-FW Modules"

Don't be discouraged! I like your idea a lot. If only for your enjoyment, it would be a fabulous project.
I am picturing a juke box with lots of blue led illumination and instead of 45's, loaded with a range of FE's and OS's.
