Originally bought the microtower kit from CSS about 10 years ago and did nothing with it. Family prevented the expansion of my full stereo system so here I am finally downsizing to computer based audio. Purchased the MaKel70 plans from Planet 10 (cause you never know....) and here is the build attempt....
Trumper,
You'll love those EL-70's and you're lucky to have some stashed...they're great drivers and the bass out of them is remarkable for a 3" driver. I still have four stashed and basic panels already milled for microcastle towers...just need to get around to cabinet construction. Congratulations!

Toobhead: 4” driver, 70mm actual cone diameter.
As said the EL70 is a favorite of mine — i hae some solid Fir Mar-Kel70wT and a pair of Castle microTowers. And a couple singles if needed (1 w EnABL 1 the other EnABL 2).

Buttoned up and breaking in. Ran the drivers for a few hours in their cardboard shipper prior to build. They are now singing beautifully on the desk. Solid 70hz using Audacity to test response. Some 60hz but definitely dropping off. Very pleased with them. Next step is to repurpose the Logitech subwoofer driver for the added bass support. Stay tuned......

Enjoying these for a while now. However the woodwork is .... not the best. If I make new boxes, can the drivers be mounted on the end without upsetting the sound? They are near field on top of the desk so it would be nice if they were on their side (shorter).
As an aside they integrate with a subwoofer very well.

4”, other than the A10.2 and ignorning A12pw, it has the most bass extension potential of any Mark Audio. Pluvia7 seems to be really close in terms of boxes so it will also be in that group....and the bass out of them is remarkable for a 3" driver.
I have at least 6 EL70eN in 4 boxes (plus my keepers), both of which are up for grabs. Small enuff that they should be shippable.

Not quite sure what you mean. They typically sit with the slot at the bottom, but you do have them high up.can the drivers be mounted on the end without upsetting the sound?
You can mount the driver anywhere it will fit, there will be small differences in the 2π to 4π transition.

Sorry should have included this as an example. Classic GR Plu-Ken7 0v91. This box is too big so was thinking maybe the same idea with the mMar-Kel size...
