Hi guys,
Firstly I'm new here and glad to see so much great info. I'm about to start my first diy build, basically a stacked lcd on a projector as I understand they're the easiest for first timers.
Now for the questions, has anyone tried removing the panel from a dell 15 inch console monitor, we have one at the office with a blown backlight. Is it the same as the standard dell 15" lcd's? How tough are they to take apart?
Then I've seen a 3m 9700 advertised in the papers for about $300 apparently hardly used. How well will this work with a 15" lcd? Also I'd probably want to replace the standard bulb for a metal hydride of similar or greater strength, how feasable is this?
Thanks,
Patrick

I would say 300 is way too much to spend on the OHP. You can get them dirt cheap on ebay or at garage sales.
