this is really my first DIY circuit project.
this is what i was thinking:
a dual speaker amp (so an amp with the two speakers)
i also what the amp to have a switch selecting the power source between battery, or wall.
i've looked at some schematics for simple headphone amps, but there are so many different schematics for stereo amps, i don't know which i need.
i also don't know the dangers. for example, if i make a mistake in the amp, could i damage my mp3 player? is there a like a de-amplifyer lowering the voltage going back to the device.
mainly i don't know what my first/next step should be and what schematics i should be following.
i'm sure this sin't the first thread asking for beginner help, you could point me to one (i* didn't find one here). but also my project is slightly unique (i think), so help here would also be appreciated.
thanks 🙂

LM3875 and LM3886, these are the simplest you can get.
Start off building chipamps, then when you feel your getting the hang of things, read D Self's and Bob Cordells audio amplifier books to learn how power amplifiers work.

Tekko's advice is excellent.
As far as power goes, if you are at all unsure of your understanding of AC mains power, you are probably better off either using a "wall wart" (AC/DC adapter) or buying a commercially made power supply. A small chip amp with a suitably sized wall wart will be adequate for relatively sensitive speakers.
