Well, the penny-pinching bastards finally got me. The corporate web filter has discovered DIYAudio, so I will no longer be readily able to read and post to my favourite web forum. 😡

I've just finished watching 'Midnight in Paris' over a bottle of fine Australian shiraz with my lovely wife, so I'm feeling a little full of myself. I thought this would be the right time to say hello and farewell to everyone.

DIYAudio has been a treasured respite from the insane daily grind of the American Dream for many years now, and I thank every one of you for your generous, silly, insightful, curmudgeonly, hilarious, bickering, brilliant, and inspiring contributions to this site.

I have learned a great deal, actually done considerably less, and dreamed much more about the many interesting ways to reproduce music through all of your ideas and explorations, and am grateful for the journey. What little I have contributed over the years will certainly become even less frequent now that I can't even peruse the site over my lunch break. Spending dedicated time researching, browsing, and learning through the site is not much more possible at home, either, with little people running around. 😀

So thank you, DIYAudio. You're one of the good ones. 😎
Keep listening to music, and keep encouraging each other to try new and innovative ways to do so. 🙂

.......DIYAudio has been a treasured respite from the insane daily grind ............

At this, I am tempted to share my personal experience here.

After a major surgery and a paralytic condition earlier, I was very terribly upset with my health. Then I decided that I must do something to get rid of that pessimism. Myself, with no formal background of technology, pursued electronics again as a hobby and after searching a lot, I found Diyaudio as the right place for me to learn and bridge my gaps and this wonderful camaraderie helps me a to a great extent to forget my disease and associated pain etc in this homebound condition. Each interaction with fellow members, be it an IM or a post from an experienced member to answer my silly queries or when I try to help some newcomers with my limited knowledge, fills my heart with joy.

So, I sincerely second what you said , it's a "treasured respite" and an "adieu" from any experienced member is a loss to those who have just arrived or yet to arrive here.

Hope things will be normal again for you in no time and we will find you amongst us regularly.

Wishing a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year to you and your family. 🙂

My moping is over. 😀 Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I'll just have to stay up late every now and then to read and post. <yawn>
A Happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to you, too, csom! I hope your situation continues to improve! As long as we have friends and family around us, we can all consider ourselves lucky wealthy beyond measure.
