ok, i have a simliar problem to quite a numer of people seem to have been having with the FFC(?) cables being too short
From my searches of the forums, i've come up with the following links:

i have the EXACT same problem as you do. i'm losing about an inch of viewable area off the top of the screen and it's killing me. i just bought a converter box from Fry's to play my xbox (Halo2) on the projector. $60, VEG LITE by Rtv. Works like a charm. the whole set up would be perfect if i could move those boards out of the way. the link you posted looks promising. i think i'll give the extension kit a try. post your results.
