Heys guys just wondering what is the pros and cons of using fet / op-amp as a mic preamp?

Someone say that a Fet based mic preamp is better than op-amp one. Is it true? I have just built the following one:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Can someone please tell me if this one is good or it is just a toys? I am using this to pick up the sound by musical instrument. So I need a preamp have frequency response from around 50Hz-16000Hz as flat as possible.

If there are any better project to build? Op-amp one will be better ? Many Thanks!

For an uncontrolled matching and pre amp stage, this works quite well. I have set up many a system using this circuit except I used 470n for C1, 1u C2, 220K R2 and BC549C as Q1, (slightly quieter on the noise level).
One could use a FET input pre amp but the Capacitor Mic Insert has already been buffered with its own FET. Why not place the Insert in your guitar and the rest can be placed where power is handy.

Thanks for your reply. Can you briefly tell that how those resistor and capacitor value is calculated?

Many Thanks
