So anyone tried it out yet?

fenice 100

Its 69.00 Euro.

I wanted a Charlize with more power and this would fit the bill. I was also tempted by the UCD 180 but this is half the price and more power than I will ever need.
I believe this is the same chip the 41HZ Amp 5 uses.

Thanks

Andrew

Bruno asked me where I heard about his kits from and I gave him the link here so maybe he will chime in? He says he has a smps for the Fenice 100 to be released around the end of March so I will wait and purchase an amp and p/s from him then.
He was very quick and informative with his responses via email, seems like a good guy to deal with.

I talked to S3 and have ordered 2 of the Fenice 100.
They did mention the SMPS coming too. Cool.

This is all good news for me, as I wanted to bring out a higher powered amp in my Octopus line and had been looking at the 2022 chip.

If the new board sounds as good as the Fenice 20 but at a higher power, then yahoo! The Fenice 20 is a great sounding board, but has the power limitations of all the small chips. That's not a big deal for some speakers, but 50 WPC would sure open things up for a broader range of drivers - and audiophile head-bangers.

I'll let you know what I think as soon as I can get one built.

Slight digression, but here I go...

Pano,

Your Octo amp has the look, it has the feel, and when Bob fine tunes the damping in my FT-1600s I'll know if it has the right sound( I didn't want any Fiberglass in my cabinets so he is using something else).

So I hope you will indulge me in a digression.....I now lust after a USB DAC like Scott Nixon is doing as here...

http://www.scott-nixon.com/dac.htm

Only I want one in a bronze Otco box...

So I want you to flesh out your product line with one of these...

I am willing to be your first customer for this item. If you are interested, it would be way cool I think. We could even hack one of these...

http://www.stereo-link.com/

What do you say Pano, we need you to make an Octopus USB DAC
in Octo garb.

I lnow you are deep into the components of Class T and modding Super sonics, ect., but I think as things evolve there will be a real need for this component?

Please let us know your thoughts about this idea/

thanks in advance,

A happy octo owner. JF

one more digression and I

will stop...
why do this?

The components would match and mate into a total system.........

The Octopus System.

Perhaps there are ready made components that could go together well

Say this USB to 12 s board...

and DIY paradise Monica II?

Pano, I think it would fit well in your line?

I will stop now and let you think. I am willing to be an early customer for this effort.

Thanks in advance JF.

Hi JF,
Glad you like the amp, I try to make them look good as well as sound great. I think that both are important, as music is, above all, a sensual experience.

This is really more a discussion for AudioCircle, rather than here - but:

I have been asked several times to bring out a DAC and a preamp. I hope to do so soon. The preamp is close.

The Scott Nixon DAC is very nice, it's the only one of the bunch I've heard. I was over at Scott's house last year and had a listen. Very smooth, refined, sweet. Scott's been building audio for over 20 years, he sure knows his stuff!

So stayed tuned, there should be some new stuff out soon in the Octopus line. I try not to mention my products too much here, as this is really a DIY site. I've gotten slammed for doing that over on AudioAslyum, and rightly so!

When I called Tripath, they said this chip was not recommended for new product development and the chip is going to be end-of-life-d. I still would like to use this chip or the Fenice100 board (I'd like the Eval Board for simplicity). Does anyone know of a link for more products or eval boards for the TA2022? I have spoken with S3 already. Thank you.
