Fehlauer Monophonic

I just finished reading Art Dudley's article in the December edition of Stereophile where he reviews a small phono pre-amp for mono reproduction. It's designed by Michael Fehlauer and has continuously variable bass boost and treble rolloff controls which allows for matching of early, non-RIAA recordings. The circuit looks very simple and I'm wondering if anyone has tried or has any idea how to implement something like this? I'd also be interested in hearing from any collectors of early mono LPs for your thoughts on the requirement of non-RIAA EQ.

Thanks!

This old SCOTT 121C from 1957 has inspired the MONOPHONIC.

The characteristic of the MONOPHONIC stepless EQ curves is what really fits.
