Hi all, is there any advantage to using fast recovery diodes eg. MUR8** series as opposed to a normal bridge rectifier when constructing a power supply consisting of a transformer, rectifier, filter capacitors for a class A/B amplifier
Any views please

Use the search, Luke

No advantage. 50 or 60HZ does not require fast recovery.

Thoglette, I did a search, obviously with the wrong criteria. Obviously I'm rubbish at most things, but there again I'm happy. To ere is human to forgive------------

Searching is a special skill that not everyone has. Most of my searches return thousands of non-related links.

Closest I'll get to divinity. (+1 on Alta Vista)
I have had problems with high voltage supplies and slow diodes.
I got huge glitches on the output.
The problem is more common in valve amps than in solid state.
