Fairchild Semi Mosfets

Companies as RCA, and also Fairchild, were at the forefront of MOSFET development.
A cheaper part not automatically is a worse device, sometimes the more affordable product is on top.
Bigger isn't always best, there's nothing wrong with semis of manufacturers as Fairchild and Intersil.

I used this mosfet a lot at my work as well for low frequency & upto 60 Khz purposes .
My opinion about them is good .
With the 50n06 i builded (modified sinus) inverters ,small switchers (400 watt) etc. etc.
(my chef once bought a 1000 orso ,we just had a big supply and used it for more or less anything)
My advice would be to go for it .

If you are going to switch only 1A, you may find that a 50A devide exhibits too high capacitances resulting in poor efficiency, unless your switching frequency is very low or your or you are planning to use it as an on/off power switch.

Anyway, for non-critical applications go to the lower cost, and for critical applications the datasheet usually tells much more than the price about which devices are suitable.

I've used different MOSFETs from Fairchild extensively, starting from output devices in Creek Audio amplifiers (from about 1999 they use only Fairchild) and for switching purposes in my current job. It is a good supplier, I would use their transistors without hesitation, and prices are usually good too.

My one supplier also swears by Fairchild... he said they get the least comebacks/complaints on those... I was pretty sceptical at first, but I can't say I have ever had a Fairchild misbehave.

These statements, along with the other ones are very encouraging. And to come from those who actually designed and build using these devices is already enough reason for me to trust FS.

That's it then, Fairchild it is. 😎

Many thanks to all!

PS: I've ordered Fairchild's PN100 and PN200 small signal transistors and for their category, they are much cheaper than those coming from other manufacturers.
