Evox MMK vs Polypropylene

Hi all!

Thinking of replacing all the polyester MMK caps in my amp with polypropylene.

Are the Evox MMK actually good and this is not worthy the trouble, or will I get a significant improvement?

Also, has anyone actually tried Xicon MPP, or ever compared to Wima MKP10 or Ero/Vishay MKP, Panasonic ECW, Orange Drops 715/716 or what else do you recommend?

U should replace them. It will sound good. Don't know about the Evox MMK.

However, many polypropylene types r available and the costly audio ones(made for audio) sound much better. What is worth is upto u to decide.

I've used Evox MMK for the input cap on a large proportion of my DIY amps. I started using them because were used on the original AKSA and Lifeforce amplifiers which had good sonics.

I've tried Mundorf M-Cap Supreme, Auricap, several different brand MKT, Blackgate NX, Nichicon ES, Wima (?) etc as input caps and very hard to pick differences. The electrolytics had a slightly different flavour which can help voice an amp if desired but really no better or worse depending on your taste.

MMK are a handy size and you don't get long leads that can pick up rubbish.

I think it's more important to use the correct value and I have read somewhere (?) the spec voltage of the cap is best kept low for signal use..... right or wrong I have no idea.
