If your stumped what to get grams auntie or wife these wind chimes make classy little gifts. Who doesn't like a wind chime? Take note if you got yourself into a little trouble over the weekend and want back in good graces or some fresh baked cookies
These tones on this design How to Make Wind Chimes in 5 Easy Steps sound nice. Its a cinch to build with an arm full of stuff.
Before wasting copper would cutting its lower pipe sides to a 45 will it dramatically de tune to cause it to sound bad?
Along with a patina and minor engraving on copper should bring looks up a level. maybe a steel chain and colored let glass insert.
This might be the wrong place, feel free to shift it around then.

I have fond memories of the sound our old neighbors wind chimes made when being hit by slugs from my air rifle.

I have a pair of wind chimes made from precisely tuned hard drive platters. and I mean that.
I am a big fan. I have a quite few, made from different materials. I think my favourite is the one made from sugar cane. Mind you, the neighbours find it a bit weird when they see me out there chewing on the things. 😉

Anyone who doesn't like wind chimes has deep rooted problems. Almost the same as a guy who finds himself on the balcony chewing on them.

I think I'd go out and buy a shotgun if my neighbours put up a set of chimes. Blam! .... that's better.
I certainly know some people who'd intentionally buy chimes now just to mess with you.I think I'd go out and buy a shotgun if my neighbours put up a set of chimes. Blam! .... that's better.
Anyone here who can tolerate weeks on end of that racket has probably already taken root or maybe even been planted. Wind chimes are not best suited to our weather!

We got gun laws here. In the spirit of DIY the alternative is to build some kind of rail gun and repurpose the power supply from a honking big Class A amp.

That right there is the problem with this instant gratification culture 🙄
I had extended satisfaction from sniping one or two chimes off each week for ages without the swines ever knowing what was happening. When i was a kid we had to invent our own amusements 😀
I was given a large 8 tone bamboo wind-chime by a neighbour who was moving out, though it sounded nice i got 'issed off with it and turned it into a glockenspiel for another neighbours kids to play with.

Ulterior motives on part of creator? I can understand how they would could do aggravate a few people. I would probably hang one a little off in the distance away from an immediate area. There meant to offer a soothing calming effect not have you running for the shotgun. Bamboo seems better suited in that respect.
Bamboo is a nice hollow, almost haunting sound. And yes, that's what my 'sugarcane' one is actually made of.
