I like african music as well as south-american
Astor Piazolla is fantastic!
And them africans surely knows how to get a groovy guitar sound.

nice with some diversion from mainstream "Sony" and USA-dominated streamlined media products

Although I don't know where to get it for free (chance almost zero), a nice CD with Indian AND African influence is "african fantasy" by Trilok Gurtu (my favourite tracks are "Big Brother" and "Folded Hands").
