ESL 57 Bass panels: Cleaning off the residue

Dear forum,

I am asking if anyone has any experience which solvent is the best for removing the residue after having the insulation tape removed from the perimeter of the bass panels?
I used 70% ethyl alcohol without success.😕

If the residue is dry, you don't have to remove it if you don't want. If it's still sticky, mineral spirits will work well. I then follow that with isopropyl alcohol (91% or better) to clean off any residue.

Acetone is useful on Mylar, but I don't think the plastic stators will fair well with it.

Thank you for all your help. I do not have isopropyl alcohol at home, but I found a bottle of denatured alcohol (92% Ethyl alc + 2 Methyl Ethyl Ketone) that looks like work well on that grime. (I have checked it only at one corner so far) I hope the plastic stators will remain intact...

Thank you. The denatured alcohol works nice on the residue, however it removes a bit of the gray paint, so I am taking care that the cloth would only touch the edges for optical reason. I will try out the mineral spirits at the other panel.
A friend of mine advised that I shouldn't bother that residue as I can only rip the diaphragm by the applied bending forces on the stators...
